The ARC Training Centre for Radiation Innovation (RadInnovate) has been established to train a new generation of researchers and leaders to build new capabilities for radiation and nuclear science.
Projects are co-designed with our Industry Partners and you will be enrolled in either the Australian National University (ANU), the University of South Australia or the University of Adelaide. You will also spend 12 months of your enrolment based at one or more of our industry partners, which may not necessarily be located in Canberra or Adelaide.

There are additional opportunities for students with their own scholarship working with one our team on an aligned program of study.
An above-award tax-free student stipend or scholarship top-up (2024 ARC stipend rate is $38,982, updated annually) is available for up to 3.5 years.
Requirements for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy degree
- An Australian bachelor’s degree with at least second-class honours (Upper first-class honours may be required by some programs) or the international equivalent, or
- Another degree with a significant research/thesis component, or
- A combination of qualifications, research publications and/or professional experience related to your field of study
- An Australian bachelor’s degree or higher, with an overall grade of distinction or higher, or the international equivalent, or
- Another equivalent degree, or
- A combination of qualifications, research publications and/or professional experience that are related to your field of study
- A copy of your academic transcript and/or evidence that you will meet university PhD/Masters by Research program entry requirements for the Australian National University, University of South Australia or University of Adelaide.
- A copy of your curriculum vitae (CV) (maximum of three A4 pages)
- A person statement that outlines your research interests (maximum of one A4 page)
- Documents to verify you meet English language requirements
- Your preference of University (if you have one)
- Your proposed supervisor(s) (if you have one/them)
- Optional – a link or upload to a video (maximum two minutes) introducing yourself and telling us where you completed your Honours or Masters degree, the research topic you worked on, and the type of PhD or Masters by Research project you are interested in.
