RadInnovate is an Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Training Centre, led by the Australian National University, in partnership with Adelaide University. Our approach to innovative, integrated and transdisciplinary research training integrates world-class academic excellence with access to major national infrastructure and industry immersion.
To uplift radiation and nuclear science and technology capacity; undertake innovative research projects co-designed with industry Partner Organisations; and develop effective regulatory stewardship and comprehensive social licence.
Our Partner Organisations will benefit directly from ready access to expertise in radiochemistry, radiation detection methods, behaviour of radionuclides in natural and industrial environments, dosimetry, modelling, calibration and measurement techniques, and radiobiology.
We will facilitate the use of large-scale ion accelerators, ion implantation capabilities for material modifications, and prototyping of quantum technologies, state-of-the-art radiation detectors, space radiation testing infrastructure, and access to expertise in computational radiation transport modelling and simulation.
In collaboration with Partner Organisation regulators (e.g. ARWA and ARPANSA), co-regulators (e.g. ANSTO) and regulated entities (e.g. BHP, Babcock), we will contribute to the new regulatory and legislative frameworks needed for radiation and nuclear technologies in Australia, the data and analysis for developing new regulatory cultures, and strengthen the communication needed for public trust and social licence from diverse communities.
RadInnovate works with industry to connect research, training and innovation with real sector needs.
